Strings
Blocks are notched when assembled — to avoid don’t use a center string. When creating a block with two distinct sides, have the seam between the two colors go right down the middle.
This one uses a half square triangle on one side of the block rather than strings but a red strip is the first one on each of the dark halves. Using blue half square triangles on the outside edge creates a border effect.
